Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior after market sunroof can be done!

just got the job done yesterday. had to wait a day after to wash the car and see if it leaked. after a day i went to the car wash and the water stayed out
i got a 3 year leak and manufacturing warranty with it
if you look closely you can tell its an aftermarket product,
the glass doesnt curve as well as the stock sunroof curves with the roof, oh welll
the job cost about 950.00
im happy

Looks like its mounted a lot further back than the factory sunroofs, But it looks good.

i didnt expect much more from an aftermarket sunroof..

they couldnt put it any closer to the front because of the curvature of the roof

$200 option? i was quoted over $300 to have mine replaced (parts and labor) due to the tint coming off (damn plastic version )

anyone know how much if i got the glass version separately and did it myself (and the difficulty) ?

its spring break in florida so a sunroof is a MUST around here

i think i lost about an inch and a half in head room
didnt notice much really - except for the ugly head liner they put in
im thinking of changing that with a black headliner, i think that will give my interior a "darker" look

A friend of mine did that to his Chevy Malibu a long ways back and I mean several years. Even then he had no leakage and it looked great just like yours. Good job. I give you credit for being the first Celica owner I know to do this. You will be happy for years that you did it. Looking up and seeing the stars and the moon and the wind blowing as you stick your hand out the sunroof. As close to a convertible as we are going to get. I guess. The leakage problem has always been a rumor even 10 years ago when my friend did it. A good install should be the same as stock. Hell, a friend of mine use to drive in a lowrider chopped top ford truck. Never any problems, unless you liked driving with no top in freezing weather with the heat pumping and 10 layers of clothes on your body. Great job!!!

u dont have to look "closely" to tell it is not stock...

im pritty sure the one he got is plastic. the one we got stock (at least in 02) is plastic. this cuts down on weight at the top of the car
