ok i just got my 18s put on and everything and i know im supposed to feel a little less power and im ok with that. my question is about my stock tach. i raced it tonight against a del sol tonight (first race with new rims) and i hit fuel shut off twice! my rpms were only at like 7100 when it did this. im sure its because of my rims but how can i fix this? i want to be able to make an accurate shift in each gear without reaching fuel shut off. will an aftermarket tach fix this? if so, why? wont both tachs read the same? thanx in advance.
Having a different rim size doesn't matter at all with fuel cut off or tach.. Your total wheel size might be little differnt which will effect your speedometer.. by very slight...
If your car wasn't wamed up then fuel cuts off at like around 7000
hmm now that i think about it, it all happened about 3 min after i turned my car on. yeah maybe my car wasnt warmed up. ill try it again tomorrow. if the problem still happens, think toyota will fix my tach for me? its still under warrenty but they might not cover it.
And you wouldn't even feel the lift kick in.. if not warmed up... Your temp needle should be like 3nd bar at least.. I do not recoomand hitting lift on 1 or 2nd bar

Yea.. it wasn't warmed up... If you still have the 3 year 36k mile warrenty.. it should cover it.. no problem...
just to let everyone know, red devil was right. i tested it out again today after my car was nice and warm and i took it all the way up to redline. i ate up a neon in the process he was talking a lot of shit so i had to shut him up. not much to brag about but its fun to put people back in their place. alright peace.
