We just finished installing my Injen CAI and not exactly sure how it is supposed to sound so I thought I would ask, at neutral when you rev it it kind of hesitates and then a low sucking sound and when you hit lift it gives a really loud throaty sound, I was wondering if youre supposed to constantly hear it or if people can just give me a general idea of how it is normally supposed to sound! Thanks guys!

I can always hear my AEM CAI. I just hate the noise it makes when I shut my car off.

Like something under the hood isn't right. Sounds kinda like something is grinding to me. The sound I like best is when I'm cruising and I'm low in the powerband (ya know, like going 40 in 6th gear ), and I just floor for a second, let off, and then floor it again. I accelerate at like one half a MPH per second, but I just love hearing that low growl.

I love that hissing when I shut off... everyone thinks that it's the coolest thing when I turn it off. And yes, everything you described is the same as mine. I have a 6 speed GTS and it is crazy loud when it hits lift! Sounds GREAT.

Rev it a lil, turn it off. U'll hear the air being release, it'll make the psshssing sound, it's louder one shortram (ithink) because it's right there under the hood and not behind the wheel well..that's how i see it comparing from my last car with a shortram. this time i got the CAi.

One thing to remember when installing the injen, be sure to cut a lot of plastic away in the fender. If you don't it can end up rubbing a hole in the piping. I did mine a good inch away. At first it was closer and touching a bit but I went back and redid it. Better safe than sorry.

Rob do you think it would help to have like a rubber seal around that part? you wouldnt have to cut the hole so big and rubbing wouldn't be much of a problem just a thought.

The CAI won't barely move so a good inch or two around shouldn't harm anything. It's just engine vibration that gets it shaking very little, but fast enough to evential wear a hole over time. That's what the vibra mount is for. Not only noise. I hear all sort of amazing sounds with my CAI. The rush of air after cold starts, the low grunt, hissing when I turn off or shift normally, and going into lift cannot be explained with the GTS. AS SCC said a couple of years ago, even with the S2000, it's the best sounding 4 cylinder engine produced to date.
