I was just wondering if redding out the tails would be illegal. I just redded out my taillight and my dad's giving me crap about how its probably ilegal. I would almost agree with him that it might be if it weren't for the fact that the '03 + celica's entire tail is red/pink. Anybody know for sure? THNX

most cops that pull you over won't write you a ticket for simple things such as that. There are so many types of headlights/tail lights on new cars now - many people are having hell of a time trying to figure of its stock or custom...

besides, if a cop pulls you over for tail light stickers and wants to write you a ticket - get out of your car and remove them right on the spot... heck, you will have to take them off for the fix-it ticket anyways, right? Why deal with all the time and hassle of going to sheriff's office for inspection when you can remove them right there on the spot.

Plus you can use the "$15 Inspection Charge" you saved, on a new set of red-out tail vinyls (and you wont have to take a day off from work to visit Mr Sheriff spineyes)

Some Illegal equipment most often cited by the CHP:

Tail lights other than red (24600 VC).

Illegal brake lights. Brake lights on vehicles newer than 1979 must be red (24603 VC).

Lack of rear reflectors. Two red reflectors are required on the rear of cars and trucks (24607 VC).

Tail lights that incorporate a bulb with a red tint or coating. In general, custom tail lights that incorporate a clear outer shell and red inner lens are legal (24011 VC). If they don't incorporate reflectors, they must be added to the vehicle (24607 VC).

Tail lights that are too dim, washed out or show yellow, white or other colors (24600 VC).

I've sold well over 500 of my v9 redout kit to date. Nice easy mod, makes a big difference, and yes, it's legal wink.
