I'm thinking of painting my headlights(the chrome part) black

what does everyone think? anyone have any pics?

so you can take the headlights out without taking the bumper off?

I was thinking about painting the chrome part black, all the chrome around the highbeam and turn signal, basically, all that's chrome

It's probably not a good idea to paint the reflectors that are around your low or high beam. I painted the bottom of the turning signal reflector and I like that look. I think it looks better than not painting it at all, but taping was a major, major bitch. It didn't come up perfect but if anyone ever gets close enough to look at them I'm probably in the process of running them over.

Of course the whole process was in vain because my lids are scratched beyond imagination.

you can't do that...because then you're lights aren't going to give any output at all and you won't see shit...

you can only paint the housing like everyone else is doing.

PAINT THEM.
