hahaha I had no clue that this car came to the US markets until my friend told me that he's going to trade in his Celica (which was broken in to, had the center dash f**ked up, fender messed up, and rear ended this year!) for one. spineyes

I don't know why so many people pick the STI over the Evo. I would take the Evo over the STI no questions asked. The Evo RS base price will be around or under $27,000. That's not including the MR (if it comes stateside) for a little over $30,000 that would kill an STI more so than before on a road/track not gravel or offroad. An STI is overhyped and the Evo stock or tuned just keeps punishing more expensive cars. Evo all the way.

^^ OLD!

STi - 300 hp

Evo - 271 hp

They are both pretty much the same price. I personally don't like Mitsushitsy, due to reliability and what not. They are like Fords to me.

The reliabilty issue. An Evo has more reliability than a 7th gen Celica and all its little/or big problems. We all chose it. Looks are another issue for us and the Evo looks better than a STI. The Evo engine has been around for at least a decade and is one of those great engines (like the supra) that just plain works. I've seen many videos and read many articles compairing an Evo to a STI, S4, RS4, Porsches, Skylines, etc. in stock form or in different states of tuning and it just kicks ass period.

I'm far less concerned with the Evo engine than I am with the other Turbo sport-compacts on the market. When the manufacturer just dump a Turbo in a Neon or a Protege (as has been done), I worry about the engine withstanding the added stress. The Evo engine was around for a while before it came to the US, and it was built specifically for use with the Turbo setup. Still, I think our cars (lift bolts excluded) will have far less problems over their lifetime.

lol, whats a life bolt tongue ...jp
the SRT4 motor was also specificly built for a Turbo. its not a normal neon motor with Turbo put on it

Fixed the "life bolt" comment. From now on, I think I'm gonna call it "hitting life". rofl

Anyway, the Neon is still a Dodge. If dodge made steel blocks, they would break down eventually.

A Neon engine can put out crazy HP. Looks like crap and drives like crap. Any ways I had heard of reliablity issues with Subaru's drivetrain and in the past from several mechanics. I don't know if it's fixed, but that's how it was. I still think the Evo is as reliable as a 7th gen Celica.

the whole reason I bought my celica was the look, reliability, and the fact that I like having a project to build on...yeah, the 7th gen celi doesn't hold a candle to the evo for speed, but that means that any idiot can get in an evo and fly down the highway, whereas to get your celi to go like that you are going to have to put time, effort, and patience into it, which makes you appreciate your celi tons more.
