does factory tint have an affect on the new tint? Does it make it darker than it really is?

At least mind did, and yeah, I can't imagine it *not* adding to the overall tint, at least by whatever % tint is on there already.

At least mind did, and yeah, I can't imagine it *not* adding to the overall tint, at least by whatever % tint is on there already. um, well obviously it would add to whatever aftermarket tint you get..but why would you do that? take the factory tint off, put new tint on after.

factory tint was about $350 for 3... $500 for 5..CDN that's insane! i didnt know they run that high... i got all my done 5 window + the front strip for $300! i can get it cheaper...but didnt know the place when i tinted my rear 3 window.

I thought factory tint is made into the glass? At least thats what the dealer told me.. not that my car has much tint.. anyone know the legal % for Cali?

I believe the legal tint for California is that you can have any % tint, but it is rear only. I pretty sure though if one were to do a light 35% tint on the front windows, cops wouldn't care. Nah.. Ive heard there is a legallity for cali... back and back side windows are allowed to be darker.. but front side have a limit...for instance.. limo tint.. would be illegal on a normal car. I just am not sure what % is/isnt legal.

Unless I'm totally mistaken, nearly all tint on new cars, including ours, is made into the glass.
You simply can't remove the stock tint on our Celi's unless you're up for replacing all you're windows, heh.

Unless I'm totally mistaken, nearly all tint on new cars, including ours, is made into the glass.
You simply can't remove the stock tint on our Celi's unless you're up for replacing all you're windows, heh. I believe you are correct. It cannot be removed.

You have lightly tinted glass from the factory If your state law says you can only have 35% tint and you put on 35% window film on the car you will fail with a light gun becaus eof the factory tint. I know cause I failed the cop asked what I had I said 35 % its legal and he said yes it is butfactory is like 98% which equals to me actually having 33% tint. Some tints make up fo r the 2% and now are 38% or something like that so you dont fail on the light gun.
