I hooked up my radar detector to my dome light, but it does not work if the door is closed. I thik there is some kind of switch on the dome light that makes it run a lower voltage if the door is closed so that if you leave it on it does not drain your battery. Does anyone know how to bypass this?

the dome light amp is very low, you need to hook it up behind the cig lighter plug

On the dome light .. doesn't your car have a three way switch that's says "door - off - on" ... did you try putting it to on ? Plus you would want to hook up to the dome light power before the switch not after it ...

A couple people have used the dome light before and have gotten it to work.

You could also use the sunroof if you have one.

I tried it with it on, on door, and on off. It is hooked up before the switch. It works when the door is open, but when I close it the low volts flashes on the radar and it cuts off. confused
