I see that some people have this question. At list 3 for the past month or two. Specially people with TRD shift knob. I also see so many shift knob/boot pictures with ugly gaps. And seems like people have no idea how to fix it.
I did post "How to fix shift knob gap" posts before... but here is another one. I hope that moderators will ad this post to interior installation so it would be easy for people to find it.
I have Sparco Globe-X shift knob.
It's very nice shift knob but it did not fit perfectly . After I installed it I realize that I have 4mm gap between shift knob and the shift boot. eek
So here is what I did to fix that ugly gap:
1) First take off the shifter panel and shift boot .

2) Place 2 (2mm) washers on the top of the white plastic ring (Middle of the shifter).
P.S.You can get washers at any home improvement store.

3) If you do not have washers and do not have time or money to buy it, or you just lazy to go to the store... Do this:Find your CDR/CDR-W cd box and look for the plastic ring. It's comes with every box of CDR's.

4) Here is the ring. You can use 1-3 of them to fix the gap. It's all depends how big is the gap.

5) Here is the final picture. As you see there is no gap.
Problem solved.
