I would probably think that somehow the beep got reset and now it is silent. One would know that the beep is silenced by when one hits the arm/disarm button and the lights still flash. Try calling Toyota's service dept. and they should tell you how to reprogram the alarm beep setting. grin

my mom has a 98 camry, and that thing doesn't beep sometimes, sometimes lets out a squeeky beep, sumtimes does what it should. it's weird, but it does always lock and unlock the doors! so that's good, i think your "beeper" may have got jacked up, make sure there is power going to it, maybe it needs to b replaced confused

i have this problem occcasionally...there should be a switch under the dash, near the driverside door (general area of where the hood release is) try that switch. or, what happened to mine is the wire was cut (proly when i swithed out my batt) but anyways if that's the case, just solder or crimp them together

i had the same problem. did you have your door open when you noticed the problem. this happen to me and i found out that when the door is open and you hit Lock, Unlock, Lock you will put it into valet mode. Valet mode just locks the doors and flash the lights. just open the door and hit Lock, unlock, lock and it should fix the problem.

try checking the fuses...

but i have an alarm (not factory though, so maybe it's different), but the horn gets worn out sometimes and just won't sound, locks still work, lights still flash..so maybe that needs to be changed?? confused
