Hi, I own a lightly modded (for now) 2000 Ford Lightning and am actually looking for mods for my girlfriend's 2002 Celica GT. Any good sites to look at would be a great help. She's willing to spend about $6000 and wants a Turbo (she likes the supercharger whine on my L)I've heard the GT's are considerably weaker than the GTS and more than about 7lbs of boost might hurt the motor. If any of you veterans could shed some knowledge for me I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

GT works much better as far as FI goes, due to its lower compression.

While yes the GT has far less power than the GTS, it has its own advantages as well. The most noteable of which is its output of power in the lower rpms.

There are currently 2 Turbos available for the GT model; one from DA Sports, and the other from Stafford Fabrications.

Both Turbos should put a stock GT upwards of 195+ whp

The GT's capacity for holding more boost can be further increased by adding some low compression pistons from www.monkeywrenchracing.com [monkeywrenchracing.com]

I hope that I could help you out, please let us know if you have any other questions.

... and as for superchargers, TRD does make one but it will not clear the celica's hood. There may be an aftermarket hood it could be compatable with, and TRD was making one themselves but I think that they pulled the plug. You can always give them a call and see what's up though! smile

Thanks for the help guys. I've already looked at the DAsports Turbo, but didn't know about the other. I'll check it out. Any other mods (exhaust, pulleys, electronics, etc.) that might work well with a Turbo? Thanks again for the great help.

Well she'll probably need a new clutch to hold all the extra power, so perhaps an ACT clutch with a Fidanza lightweight flywheel would be a good combo. Lots of people have done this.

AEM makes an oversized lightweight alternator pulley for like $70

I believe that the Apexi Power FC will work nicely with a Turbo.

Greddy also makes an ECU piggyback called the "E-manage," and you can get it preprogrammed for Turbo here:

As for an exhaust you're gonna need something that can keep up with that Turbo, so you might want to look at custom, or maybe the TRD Kazuma, which is EXTREMELY LOUD, be prepared to face herassment from the cops.

Here's some of the exhausts available:

Oh btw, I would recommend the Power FC with the Stafford kit, because o believe that it uses the stock ecu thumbsup

wink

Its the 1.8L s/c, and yes it will function on the celica, it just won't fit because of its hood. There was someone a while ago who had it and tried to make their hood into an "eclipse" like hood, but it looked like crap. frown The s/c worked fine though smile
