I'm in the process of getting XM satellite radio. Anybody here have this? What are your thoughts? Local radio here in Hampton Roads, VA is 90% commercials, 6% talk, 4% music. I've gotten tired of listening to CDs because it has become increasingly difficult to "locate" songs on the internet for my CDs. For only $10 a month, that doesn't seem to bad for XM. I make that in less than an hours work.

I was thinking the same thing, about the antenna. I was thinking of mounting it to the top of the rear glass with some double sided tape. It's about 2inches by 2inches and is magnetic. The info book says it needs to be mounted on a flat metal surface to achieve "optimum reception quality". I'll deal with less than optimum reception. I have the Delphi SKYFI. I plan to get it hardwired into the FM, but for now I will be using the car kit with the cassette adapter.

um... our stock radio is not xm ready. So, the receiver/controller has to be within reach while driving. So, i was wondering where it is installed.

I was thinking of mouting the DELPHI between the moonroof and the dome light facing down. I was going to route all the wiring under the headliner and back out the hatch to the antenna. Then from the unit, down the A pillar to the back of the stereo for hard wiring.

By the way, ilovemyGT, I think you're right, the antenna does kind of blend in, especially since the car is dark. What brand of tuner do you have? You're antenna is exactly where I was planning on mounting mine. Any problems with it becoming dislodged?

I like XM, but is paying about $10 a month really worth the expense? Think of it this way; in a year, one can save $120 and get a cool mod for their Celica, but it's all biased.

If you have the Delphi setup, I believe you have to run a wire to your cig lighter socket, as well as one to the tape deck. And the antenna, of course.
I have the Delphi XM setup in my mom's car (since it only has a tape deck), and it works great. I have the antenna mounted in the rear windshield (which is on a kinda of carpet-like surface.) It works great.
Of course, my mom's car is an Oldsmobile - I haven't looked into mounting one on a Celica.

I got XM radio for christmas and i love it. It was almost impossible to find music on local stations in the morning, all they played was talk. With XM it is music all the time, no commercials ever. I would give it a 9.5 out of 10 rating, my only complaint is they could use one more altternative rock station, but they have everyhting else you could want. My antennae is mounted above my rear windshield and i think it looks pretty sleek. If you have the extra money i say go for it.

I've been listening to my XM radio for about a month now. All of the music channels are commercial free, about 60+ of them. However, there are the occassional "You're listening to XM radio channel 48" stuff. But that lasts for 30 seconds max. I love it. And it's only $10 a month. I highly recommend it to anyone questioning it.

I had XM and it was okay, my car got broken into, so I decided to go with Sirius and it's been awesome ever since. I think Sirius has more programming variety than XM.. and no commercials at all, those ovaltine commercials got f*cking old on XM all the time.

I had XM, then when I heard a commercial I was paying $10 to hear, I got rid of it. I can listen to commercials on the radio for free

So how does this XM work? Is it just the antenna and it will work with the stock radio or do you have to buy some new radio and install that as well?? Sorry, I obviously don't know much about it.
