ok since i'm gonna be doing my breaks soon, i'm thinking of changing the caliper color to blue. (i'll be doing the engine plastics over also) i'm probably gonna be changing my rotors too. opinions?
^^reeeeeeeealy? one of my friends said they will make my brakes last longer... i'm not trying to get a boost in Performance just looks.. but they wont hurt Performance will they?
^ well, it's been speculated that slotted rotors actually decrease Performance because the holes decrease the surface area in relation to contact with the brake pads, hence the decreased stopping power. Also, it's been said that maximum use can only be attained in auto-x
personally, I like the look of this product and don't care as much about the minimal Performance loss. If you want maximum braking power, just get brembo rotors...

cant go wrong there. but i do like the looks of those and i know that you wont feel the loss in gains. go for it!
Take a look in Car and Driver BOOST mag. it has an informative artile on brakes. More to do with big brake upgrades then just a rotor replacement, but it might be something to read first.
Justice let me know what you get, my brakes are gona need work soon too and I have somebody that can do a great brake job for us and way cheaper than the dealer.
FYI I run the brembo slotted drilled rotors and my brake pad wear is no different than with the stock I've had the same pads now for over a year and they are still over 50% and thats with auto-x abuse also.
"They don't make no seatbelt for the mind. So I can't buckle up for this ride!"
Per looks sure but per Performance no unless you r running w/ a s/c or Turbo or nos or something 300whp+, then yeh you will need cooler brakes and rotors to prevent brake fade.
Brakes are super easy to do. Some cheap replacement Performance rotors that say they are Performance due to an increase in size, cross drilled, slotted, or a combo of both do actually do decrease Performance. If you want looks, by all means get the biggest, baddest, looking rotors. If into Performance get a big brake upgrade for the front only with better calipers like 4 piston, slotted rotors, better pads, stainless steel brake lines (of course) and for the back the same stainless steel brake lines, better pads, and rotors. No need for some super racing caliper on the backs, unless racing. No need for better calipers on the front either, unless money isn't an issue. Toyota makes some great brakes for the Celica stock. They do have a big brake upgrade for the front at, I think $2000 +. Just a better pad might suit you. But be aware of the issues with better brakes or pads. Higher Performance pads on a stock rotor will wear it out more often and give off a lot more dust. Bigger rotors, better pads, and calipers you will have to heat them up before any benefits on braking are shown. I have only heard that those big brake upgrades and some of those rotor replacements like powereslot actually decrease braking Performance. I have been looking into Project Mu for some time (several years) and those pads are available. I don't know about rotors and calipers, but I'm sure they are. If you can afford it and don't worry about the side effects go for it. Some of the best around.
