I'm the second owner of my GTS.. when I bought it, they didn't give me the keyless entry remote, cause the old owner didn't hand them in.. I whent to a Toyota Dealer to buy a keyless remote for my car.. The guy asked my for my VIN # and said that mine didn't came with the keyless entry system and that they would install a new one!.. I told them that my Celica is a GTS and that the keyless entry is not an option, its stadard on the GTS.. he said no, that mine GTS didn't came with one and that they would install it for $600.00... .. I told them OK, let me get my check book that's in my car.. I whent bakc to my car and took off... Ok here is my question, if I buy the remote for the Celica on ebay, do you think is going to work on my GTS??
Check with another dealer. Give them your vin#, and ask them to check for all the options on your vehicle (the parts dept. should be able to do this for you). I'm also going through the same situation. My car came with a remote, but it does not work. I've looked at the workshop manuals that isaac posted, but i'm still having troubles getting the remote to function. My next step is to call the dealer so they can check my vin# to see if i actually have the keyless entry system avavilable on my car. Keep me posted on what you come up with for your car!
an advise don't get the factory alarm or keyless entry. it really sucks i had one before and i had to change it when somebody tried to break into my car and messed up the whole passenger side keywhole. i had to pay 250.00( deductible to change the whole handle and paint the door.( the whole thing came to over 600.00. i got instead the clifford matrix rs2.5x with a motion sensor. it cost me over 700.00 to install it but it was wortk it. check best but they have really cool alarm systems and perfect customer service.
by the way i have two keyless remote control.one of them is brand new and the other one is in perfect condition. i don't know if you can use them but in case you can and you are interested hit me back
You should get the CompuStar 2WSS-AS system. I got mine for $720 installed. It's a bangin system, alarm and remote start. And it's one of the few systems out there that is designed to remote start a manual tranny car.
Wow, I never thought I was going to get so many answers.. Yeah thanks guy.. I'll check under my dash system to see if I have a VIS.. If I do, I'll PM samir221 to see if he wants to sell me his remote.. .. If I my car did not came with one, I'll have to buy one.. but which one???
if you have the extra cash to buy an alarm with a monitor on the remote get that. however the more walls in the way of you and your car and you will lose signal. I lose signal of mine while im out work and its in the parking lot. I dont lose signal when im at home and its sitting in the driveway, but then again I can hear the alarm if it goes off too so... it may not really be worth the extra cash. when looking for an alarm try to look for one that includes duel impact sensors, remote door lock/unlock, starter interrupt. if you want to feel special check for chirp on/off, flashing park lights, led indicator, so others fear your alarm lol. the sky is the limit for alarms, extras can always be added such as sensors for your windows, hood, truck, wheels. trunk popper, a second siren under car (pro car thiefs are tricky and may disable first one, motion sensor(crap if you ask me, they are a waste unless you have a convertible, dont be lazy roll up your windows. these are only good if you like to hear your alarm at 5 am cause a damn cat ran under your car. however they now have smart sensors that can detach if its a small animal or a person with sticky fingers) expect to pay at least 200 for something worth putting in your car. on a side note; best buy will be coming out with an alarm full of goodies including GPS for a mere $750 start saving boys...
