i had a problem with my car a while ago. whenever i used to put gas in it and try to start it , it stalled. i had each time i started it to rev it up four to five time and then it will be ok. it used to happen only when i put gas in it. i took it to the dealership and they stated that it was the gas lid. they changed it under warranty. i drove it for a week with no problem then went to fill it up again and same problem. the car kept staling and the angine chek light came on. . took it back they checked it and they said that it had to do with some type of gas tank back pressure. they did something to it and guaranteed me that it will be fine. drove it for two days, then decided to go ahead and put a short ram Intake., took it to a well known shop in florida and had it installed. two days later the engine light came back on. took it back to toyota dealershi and they stated that they cannot touch it given that i put an aftermarket ntake in it. they stated that i will need to remove it and maybe they will take a look at it. took it back to the store where i got it installed they checked the install and they advised me that everything is connected correctly and that they will charge me another 30.00 just to disconnect it adn put back the oem one. they removed it after that it was fine until the day that it didn't even want to start( three days later). i had to call my insuracne to towe it to the dealership. they checked it and it took them almost half a day to fix it. they found out that there was something wrong with the gas tank. sorry my story is long but i just want you to have a good idea of what i had to go thru. i've been driving my car for a good 4 months now and no problems. my question is i have an Intake sitting home and i was wondering if it was worth it to go ahead and put it back on . i don't want to take any risk and have to go thru the hassle again. let me know if anybody had any similar problems.

There are a lot of people here who have Intakes. The problem, as you stated, was with the gas tank. Putting your Intake back on will not create the same problem for you again imo.

Try and learn how to install ur Intake on ur own so that you yourself can put it on, and whenever you have to take it to your dealership you can take it off (and not be charged)the day before and have no problem at the dealer.

Your SRI has nothing to do with problems with your gas tank. Although you will get better gas milage with it. Go ahead and put it on, enjoy the sound, and enjoy the gains.

Gas tank recall is for the check valve falling into the gas tank, causing the auto-shutoff valve at the gas station not to work, and gas to spill out. You need to clean your MAF sensor, temp probe and change your spark plugs.

BTW, Toyota CANNOT legally refuse to look at, or service, your vehicle because it has an Intake on it unless the Intake is directly responsible for the malfunction. When they say they can't look at it or repair it for that reason, ESPECIALLY since they already failed to fix it twice before, and that was before the Intake was on, you needed to point out to them that they are absolutely FULL OF SHIT. This is how they take advantage of people. Toyota is notorious for this.

thanks guys for your response. i thought about that and i think i will do it. i'm mecanically inclined and i know that it won't be a problem for me to put it on. the only thing is that i don't have enough gutts . i always keep thinking ( what if i mess up..., basically so far i did everything myself, short shifter, altezzas, gauges, custom neon light in center console, amp and whoffers, after market stereo, front and back bumper custom grill, ... ( except for the painting of the center console) i took it to a paint shop. i think i will do it as soon as i can find me some time. let you know as soon as i do. raging paseo sorry but i was never planning on selling it. even if i don't put it in i will keep it just in case . thanks again everybody

Ok, I see some of you has problems with a celica.. I got one too before...
When I give truttle for a low rpm the car doeasn't wnet up on trottle in the same time but I waited 1-2 sec.. It was inoing as the engine stoped sometimes when I truyed to axelerate...
What was the problem.: the problem was MAF sensor.. I used K&N oil filter and there was to mutch oil on it whitch gave a result that the car sucked inn oil from filter under axeleration and the oil has burned it self in to MAF sensor. The brain in the car get wrong MAF data. I cleaned my MAF sensor at Toyota and the car sience then went like some one added +50hp to the engine...
So my conclusion is: I will never use filters that need oil.. I go for A'pexi filter...
IT was just for give you some tips guys if you have this problem...
Ow, btw sorry for my english,I am not from USA...
