If I was planning on doing a 3SGTE engine swap, would I be better off buying a manual GT or a manual GTS? Right now I don't think it'd matter, but I don't know much which is why I'm asking.

from what i've leanred..the 3sgte engine can use your stock tranny.

in that case, the ONLY reason i'd recommend getting a gts is for its stock 6-spd manual (you ARE going manual, correct?). thumbsup

Doesn't matter, you'll probably want to change the tranny anyway. Get a cheap used one.
If you don't wanto to change out the tranny, then its your preference.

3sgte CANNNOT use the stock tranny. It only accepts either the AWD or RWD tranny. You know, the one from the MR2 or the Celica Gen 5...6

doesn't matter at all which celica you want, but if you want a celica with 4 wheel disc breaks and leather seating then get GTS if not then GT
