This may sound stupid but it is what i heard, i was talking to my friend and he said that you should not wash your car in the sun, he said that it wasnt good for the paint. Has anyone else heard this or does anyone know y?
It's fine for it. The only problem is that the water usually dries before you can towel it off, so you end up with water spots. It won't hurt the car, it just won't look as nice.
Get the Mr. Clean carwash stuff. It takes out the mineral deposits in the water, so you can't leave water spots.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you
NOOOOOO mr.clean carwash is crap my girls parents got it for me for my b-day and the pressure is soooo weak, when it is going threw the filter and takes forever to get the soap off the car. it is easyer to dry it with a towel and also it says you have to change the filter every 3 times you wash your car and also you have to use their soad other wise it says it will clog it up. (at least that is what they say) but it doesnt leave water spots

those same mineral deposits in water are the ones that will corrode your paint so yes it is bad to wash your car in direct sunlight i hate water spots there really noticable on darker cars(like mines) just FYI i NEVER wash my car under the sun i always wait till sundown
its good for tanning, but hey lets face it, its not good for us to be in direct sunlight for fear of cancer lol wait till sundown or early morning when its cooler out, and buy a california water blade to cut drying time in half =D

the mr. clean carwash actually works pretty good if it you use it the right way. i use it to clean my celica and it always comes out spotless! you have to rinse it with the regular water... then use the filtered water. not that bad... i think it works pretty good! i don't use their soap though... i wash it with meguiar's gold class with conditioner... the mr. clean car soap i won't vouch for... one more thing! the sample filter it comes with you have to change after three washes because it's just a sampler... but the new filter takes a while... i'd say about 10 -15 washes
btw, for car wax i recommend turtle wax liquid carwax... your car will be showroom condition. good enough to turn heads when your driving the streets and the shine stays for a pretty long time.
I washed my car with the Mr. Clean stuff (and to be honest, I didn't use the filtered spray too much, just the normal spray).
Anyways, it dried no problem, no spots. And later on, after a bird decided to take a few craps on my hood (about 2-3 days after washing it) I just rinsed it off again, and to my surprise, not a single spot. The water just spread out and slipped right off. Only place there was anything was on the moonroof, but that was only noticeable when I rinsed it later on, when there was a fire, so ash and stuff mixed with it, and made it all crappy.
Anyhoo, I think the Mr. Clean works pretty well.
Oh, and all this was in more or less direct sunlight.
problem is that it dries before you get a chance to hose it off and everything won't come off and it will leave spots.
Exactly, I think we have all encountered that problem and I don't think washing your car in the sun would hurt the paint because there isn't a differance between washing or just leaving the car in the sun as is. But one thing you shouldn't definitely not due in the sun or direct heat is wax your car.

if you read teh directions then you would have seen yoru supposed to rinse the soap off wiht the regular rinse adn tehn after use teh auto dry spray.
Exactly if you use it right it works great no water spots at all. As for wax i just tired the new Meguiars NXT wax it actually does help hide swirls and light scratches like many claim they do but don't.

has anyone heard of the wax called "Liquid Luster"...i bought it up here in PA at a car show...it gets rid of those tar spots...cleans and shines the car all in one...and it gets rid of spray paint-if that happens to you
also if someone or something bumps your car and puts a paint mark from there car on yours, if you scrub a little it gets rid of it...my car (meaning my moms ford) had some white spots on it...
just wash'd my car with eagle 1 car wash, and wax'd it with eagle 1 wax as you dry...it looks ausome. i recomend this. it might not be as good as regular mothers wax, but it adds like only 1min to drying your car, and you get wax on it.

I haven't tried Mr.Clean yet, but I want to... I used to wash my car about 2 hours before sundown... (cool weather and also have plenty of time & light for details) I wash by sections then rinse... Wax: I Have use several brands. The last wax I used was "Nu Finish", it works pretty good! And don't forget to use TurtleWax scratch & swirl remover for watermarks on the headlights! I used it (somebody posted pics in this website but I don't remember exactly where)... Now my headlights look like new!
