I heard that too. My girlfriends brother works for toyota and he said that they are indeed coming out with a supra. It'll be interesting to see if there is any truth to that.
i have heard rumors that toyota is going to discontinue the celica, if so, when?
Only 7 months to go here in Belgium. The celica with it's current engine will become illegal to be newly sold. Toyota has to change something on the engine before it may be sold again. But it looks like they aren't gonna change anything so the celica will be discontinued. At least for a while anyway. But the dealers haven't heard anything about a "new celica" (8th gen) SO they think the celica will be discontinued forever.
i have a friend who works for toyota, and said they are bringing back the supra, sometime in the 4th quarter. he hasnt seen anything on it yet, so who knows for sure.
I just read that Toyota should be coming out with a new supra in 2007 it will be a I6 hybrid that gets the gas milage of a I4 sedan. It will have 400hp. Toyota does has some pics and stuff about it on their site. Heres one pic...
This is what Toyota says on their site... nothing bout "Supra" but its basically then next one.
"In 1800, Alessandro Volta arranged zinc and copper discs in a column and invented the battery. 204 years later, Toyota has electrified automotive history with the first high-performance hybrid, named in his honor. The Giugiaro-designed carbon-fiber body seats three people abreast and features "drive-by-wire" controls, allowing you to position the steering wheel and pedals in front of any one of them. And the Volta's 408-hp Hybrid Synergy Drive (a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor for each axle) not only delivers 435 miles on a 13.7-gallon tank, but 0 - 60 acceleration in a mere 4 seconds. Somewhere, Count Volta is smiling."
If you research is a little more..you will find a couple different concept pictures of it. Supra is my dream car...so i would love to see them re-release it. It's not happening though. In autotrend i believe they had an issue about the Toyota 5000GT...its a car supposedely coming out in 2005/2006, looks kinda like a mix between a celica, a supra, and an eclipse...sorta wierd. but anyways...as far as engines go, it had a baseline V8 with somethin like 350 hp...and then an upgraded V10!!! its gunna be nice... that concept on the Toyota homepage will deffinately never hit the market...would you buy that? its ugly. i'll post some pics of the new 5000GT as soon as i find them.

i believe there is a gas engine in teh front, powering the front wheels and an electric engine in the back, powering the rear wheels. or maybe the other way around.
"Toyota is developing a top-secret V8 supercar to take on cars like the Ferrari 456GT. Apparently the car is almost ready for production but Toyota has refused to launch it until it starts to win F1 races! We have more info and pics.
This Toyota will be called the 5000GT and will be based on the Lexus SC430 platform. It will feature a 5-litre 300kW power train and there's even whispers of a 315kW + version.
According to Auto Express the powerplant will employ a newly developed electromagnetic valve system. This will not only allow the unit to run very efficiently, but will also do away the need for a camshaft.
The Toyota 5000GT will probably make its first appearance as a concept at next year's Tokyo motor show. It is still unsure when it will go on sale and if the rumours are true that Toyota first want to win some F1 races, it can be a long wait!"
