can you put install ABS if they don't come with ABS? how much would it be and is it easy to do if possible?

6 minute abs? No, no, not 6...7, 7's the key.

ABS Im sure will be a complicated installation and be expensive. I think you really don't need it, just stay calm while drivng and pump in brake a few times if you need to stop in a hurry to prevent the wheels getting locked.

Honestly... ABS only makes THAT much difference if you're 75 and have no reflexes.

ABS...i really dont think you will ever need it..

wonder why my parents didn't like cars with ABS, but i didn't care much since i'm a good driver and pay attention to the road so ABS wouldn't matter much to me ( Like My Celica too much to care )

yea i liked my abs a lot when my right rear brake assembly fell off and i did about 3 360s in the middle of the road because my left rear brake locked up

In an emergency brake (without abs) the wheels always get locked. You can do whatever you want.
The advantage of having abs is that you can push the brake pedal as hard as you want and you are still able to turn the car around an obstacle without taking your foot off the pedal (the wheels don't get locked). This is really a big advantage.
So is abs needed? Yes it is! (no newly sold car without abs in Belgium, it is standard on all cars)
Can abs be added on a car without abs? I really don't know

And for people with abs and where the brake assembly fell off, you should make toyota pay for any damage that was done to your car. And they will pay for it if you can proove you always went to service on time in an official toyota dealer.

well i am on both sides of the fence with abs.

it has saved my life many times and has gotten me into trouble but i did make it out.

i am for abs but you still have to know how to drive

I've got ABS, and when I broke hard a few times, my wheels locked up.

but did they stay locked up if they did you do not have abs or it is not working.

ABS is a really complex system, I don't even think the average joe mechanic can do it, just send your car back to the factory for ABS, it's the only safe way.

you know until you lock your car up..no abs is better/stronger
so if you intend on racing/autocrossing i would advise not to waste the cash on an abs system

if you practice enough, you can get your braking down really well and its actually feasablke to not lcok up in emergencies/rain
but you newed to pratice, its hard to get used to not locking up

but no abs is better IMO

I dunno. I really wouldn't put ABS on a compact sports car. It's heavy and isn't necessary. I used to own an Acura Legend, that had an ABS system and it was useful because the damn thing was so heavy and took longer to stop. It saved me many... many times. Especially with all the trips to Big Bear... damn. Scary times.

Anyway, to answer your question.. ANYTHING is possible if you have the cash. You can goto the dealer and have ABS installed for over 1k including labor. If you have the cash, go for it. I wouldnt' do it though.

abs is not about skill but to be able to turn while breaking on short distance than you wudd if you pump breaked

You can have ABS installed, it's pretty expensive though.

I've driven vehicles without ABS and I'll say that every car should come standard with ABS, it is by far a superior system.. and pretty much every big manufactor uses it in their Performance vehicles. One of the best characteristics of ABS is you can turn while you brake, which is a great safety feature and I'm sure you could use it to your benefit in racing.

You stop a lot quicker too (good for emergencies on the road, and great for racing so you can brake quicker before entering that sharp corner and set-up your wheels to turn properly at the same time!)

Without ABS you'll just slide like a mother fucker in the rain or ice..like pretty much non-stop until you run out of road or hit something (presuming you slam the brakes) since threshold braking just locks the wheels. Where as ABS effentially slows the wheels down in accordance to the tires movement and grip on the road.

I also highly doubt the weight is a issue.. that sounds pretty stupid. Like I said, if cars like Corvette Z06, Porsche 911, Ferrari's and other vehicles have ABS then there is a good reason behind it, and I'm not saying what ever those cars have automatically means it's good for other cars, but in a case like this and in terms of braking abilities it does apply.

They say if you are a good driver, you will never need ABS. I don't agree, esp in the rain. Pumping is an instruction for non-trained drivers. What you want to learn is called threshold breaking, so that if your breaks lock up, you let up on the breaks to maintain control and not overcome the coefficent of static friction. BMW has excelent ABS, better than any human, they claim.
My Celica does not have ABS and I tried very heard to find one that did with no luck.

well...i think those people claiming abs is better for racing because you can brake while turning are completely wrong
i am almost 100 percent sure that formula race cars do not have abs, and you can brake while turning anyway...you just dont slam on the brake, if you practice you can feel how much to press the pedal down to not lock in rainy conditions and on turns

abs brakes slower to start with, if you are looking for Performance, you use non abs brakes

and are you sure ferarris have abs? because i am doubting that
