I went to my Toyota used car dealer yesterday because I saw a 2000 GTS parked in the front. So I went up took a look, it had been badly riced out. Looked like 04 action package rear and sides. The front was stock and the left sideskirt was scratched up and about to fall off. So one of the guys working there comes up to me and says hey man you like this? I said yeah I have been looking for a GTS. He says " Yeah man that car is fast. I think maybe it's Turbocharged because when you revv high it just goes z0oom." I open up the hood and it's bone stock. I was about to slap the guy in the face, but I didn't say anything. So it had 80k miles on it and scratches all over the place. He wanted 12k for it, so I was like yeah this is going to need some work done to it though. According to him, I could get a new body kit for $200 So I just left because the car was in bad shape and decided to buy a dirt bike instead. So much for my car search, it's looking pretty hopeless right about now
one time i took a friend car shopping and we went to a honda dealership. my friend was looking for a used integra. we asked this salesman and he took us to a mitsubishi eclipse. I ws laughing so hard and he didn't even know why until i told him that it wasn't an integra.
When I went for my car, the salesman tried to tell me that the GTS had the same engine as the IS300. I told him that the IS300 had an I-6 engine. He asked "don't you mean V-6?"
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you
i was looking at RX-8's and asked the guy if it had a clutch type or helical LSD and he just looked at me and started to talk about the different colors it came in...
I had the gas tank recall on my car, so when I went to pick it up I hung out in the showroom. I was sitting inside a Sol. and the salesguy comes up to me and says I should get it (or any new car) because then I wouldn't be coming in for service/repairs as often. LMAO...I told the jackazz that I just bought my car a month ago and it was brand new so now what? His face turned red and he just walked away.

U ever sit in the drivers seat getting ready to test drive, and the dealer walks towards the front of the car, while pointing and shaking his "gun shaped" fingers saying "Lookin' good!" ?
Because I have.
Decided to test drive anyway (cause its so much fun) and he talked about the "nifty" stock stereo, and "awesome" moon roof. After I test drove I just got out of the car and left.
And yes one time I was at a Doge dealership because my little sister was playing in those inflatable jumper things. So I look at a Neon and shit inside and start playing with the shifter. The guy comes and says you look good in this car! It was meant for you! I was like c'mon you want to throw me a shittier sales pitch
The guy at the Toyo dealer was ok only because he let me test drive it myself and I don't even have a license I wonder what his boss would have thought if he just let a 15 year old test drive a GTS by himself
Went to a dealership with my friend who was looking for a truck, and some stupid sales person didn't know what kind of engine was in the truck, and was pointing out stupid things all over the place.

I had almost the same experience with a Lexus dealer at a motor show in Denmark... He claimed that the IS300 was a 4 in row engine... And I was like "Have it your way - I'm leaving"

whats the gas tank recall? and how do i figure out if i need that?
I think she's talking about the check valve being faulty...
when you fill your tank, if at the end it turns off and you get some overflow of gas outside of your car - you need to take it in. I had that problem in my '02
It was on 02 models, possible 03? not sure, when you fill up your tank the shut off valve does not trigger and gas spills out all over the car. If you had that problem, you would know.

i like when you go for a test drive and the dealer is taking you out of the lot and he cant drive stick. one time i was like "hey, man i might want to buy this, lemme drive before you fuck it up" he was like "err, i think the clutch is going but we can have it replaced" i was thinkin yea? this car has all of 30 miles on it and the clutch is going? can you unlock the door so i can get out.
me & my buddy went to a mazda dealer to test drive a 3. the salesman came right out and greet us and start blasting about how fast the 3 is. he said, "look at that blue car, the celica, right? it's so slow compare to mazda 3." i told him, "the blue celica is mine. the 3 have 2.3liter, 160hp. i've 1.8liter, and 180hp. wanna race?" that shut him up...

What about the gas turning off before your tank is full? Mine did that the other day, and I had plenty of $ to cover a full tank.
no salesman knows anything about a celica. you know from their tone. "hello sir, my name is ___, welcome to toyota, so how did you like the camry?" "im looking for a celica" "*pause*, oh, *thinkin of the name of the car* the celeca, i think we have one there" goes there, its a matrix. look for emblem that says MATRIX. and then "oh i think its there" after finding it "this is the fastest car you can find" pointing on a gt automatic. "whats the difference between a gt and gts?" "oh, the gts has sport suspensions, comes with body kit stock, sunroof and leather seats"
Man you should have just told that stupid ass it wasn't Turbo'ed. Last year when I did my big long car search ( I went to almost every single dealership within like six cities) and a number of times I had to tell the salesman what the car had for engine and other specs, because those people don't know nearly enough about what they are selling.
Ha if you could get a kit off him for $200 you should inquire just incase he goofs up and gives a really good deal and he can bit the dust later.

I don't think the average sales person gets much for commission and it's not like they sell that many cars a day, if anything the only "high roller" at a dealership is the owner and or the highest position under the owner, and even then they probably aren't that wealthy.

I got 25% commission which means whatever after invoice I got 25% plus rust and dust I got 25% and 10% of F&I I made $800 selling a blazer one day and the next week $250 off a Viper .(I quit after that one 10k gross I should of made $2500) . the next delaership I made 8-10 cars 10% and up wards If I sold 25 cars I made 40% commission most cars had $1500 gross. Used cars is where the moneys at. starting markup is 3k Ive seen it high as 5k . Most Sales managers make $75-150k a year as with business managers.
Oh yeah and when I sold cars I knew almost everything about evryy model sold at that time. when I was off I would goto other dealers to see how the competion was . If someone was shopping me against the "camry" I would tell them about the faults of the camry and why I didnt like it (power ride interior blindspots etc) everyday I did a walk through the dealership to see what was in stock and price what was sold . I used to get paged to answer questions about other brands and what was in our inventory
