I want to have full control of my stock foglights but I don't know how to remove the relay box from the driver's side kick panel. Help please? Also I was curious why there isn't an "install" post on how to gain full control of your foglights on this site? (I found out how to do it on another celica website.) Thanks

um...foglights come with full control from the factory. fog lights have a switch that basically says 'on/off' (in symbols though) it's drl's (daytime running lights) that you don't have control over.

^^ look at one of the 'bar switches' coming out of your steering wheel on the left hand side. you should see the foglight symbol (kind of a half circle with 3 lines jutting out)...along with the 'on & off' symbols. just flip the switch to 'off' if you don't want them on at ANY time and 'on' if you want them on at any time.

I must not have made it completely clear what I wanted to do. I want to be able to turn on the foglights without having the headlights on as well. Currently with my car (2004) the fogs only go on if the headlights are on.
Thanks

I had no idea they did that. My stock fogs are like half of my headlights. I don't ever drive at night with them off. I could for my 2000 Celica, but I would rather not. They light up half of the road. You get me. Running moonshine I might want to disable all my lights, including braking. Maybe you could hook up a dimmer switch somehow like the interior lights and have not only on and off, but a full control of the brightness.

you can't do this unless you rewire the system. the fog lights are tied into the headlights by law, they disengage when the highbeams come on.
you'll have to find a way to bypass the entire system, or just cut all the wiring and rewire it.

Yeah I was going to rewire it. I just need to know how to remove the relay box from the car itself but I guess nobody has done this before from this site???

which relay box?
the little tiny one is a push on, it comes out easy. the big one is a couple of bolts.
the hardest part is going to be getting the bumper off

DiabloGTS- Thanks for your help but I don't have to take the bumper off to get to to the relays in the driver's side location where your left foot rests.

if you want to get to the back of the foglights you will, unless you are skinny as a twig When I said rewire, I meant rewire from the foglights to a new switch. The wiring from the stock fogs is tied to the headlights, so you might have a hard time bypassing

I remember seeing how to do this awhile back, basically you just have to bypass a wire down in the driver's rightside floorwell. check that other celica site for the details.
