I have had my celica since 19k miles, now it has 40k within 1 an half years. My car squeals pretty loudly, and the garage is now telling me I need all four brake pads and rotors. I can see about the brake pads but rotors too? Does this sound like a typical thing to go so soon?

no, it's not typical.

but...it does depend on how you use them. abuse them and you will pay. the rotors usually arent messed up unless you've worn through the pads and basically started using some of the rotor itself to help stop your wheel.

you can always get a second opinion though...haha mechanics do get a bad reputation for ripping people thumbsup
