What are good speakers to get that are under $150 for the Celica?

I've looked around, and not many sound better than the stock system. I am getting a new headunit on tuesday (alpine CDA-9831) and would like to get speakers to install as well.

I'm not looking for huge thumping bass, I want clarity and quality.

Components really won't work, because I don't feel like spending the $300 for a good set.

I've looked at a Pioneer 4 way that wasn't bad, and heard some infinity's that weren't bad.

Should I leave it stock, or do you have a suggestion? Also, it has to be from crutchfield, because I get a 10% discount

infinities are pretty clear

my car has the 8 speaker sound, and it's not bad but one of the tweeters is kinda blown.

plus, when I install the alpine, it's going to make the speakers in the car all on one channel (4 speakers only) so it makes more sense to buy a decent speaker I can just drop in there rather than overwork the stockies.

if you don't want to spend more than $150 don't bother upgrading from stock. If you want a real quality system anything that will get your whole system covered for $150 or less will probably just be shit.

well, I am not interested in replacing the back speakers, because it's a PITA to get to them.

If $150 won't buy a quality set of speakers, then forget it

Yea if you want good clarity and quality, your best bet is component speakers. They replace the tweeters and the front two speakers which is a benefit because that's the only one's you wanna replace anyways. They run a good $300, but they are well worth the price. But if you just want to do something under $150, just leave it stock. Afterall, you got GTS JBL sound system already, it's already good enuff!

Might as well leave it stock for now, see how it sounds with the new stereo.

Cheap speakers are going to sound far worse than the nice JBL ones that are in there now.

Polk has some good sounding 2 way speakers that sound much better than the JBL's. I picked up a pair about 2 years ago on Ebay for 80 bucks. I would suggest going to a car audio dealer and listeng to what they have then buy them on Ebay for about 2/3's of what they want for them at the store. The factory has the advantage of being able to tune the system by changing various components and testing. DIY car stereo is hit or miss because you only get one chance to get it right. The best sounding speakers tends to be pricier.

Unbelieveable price for unbelieveable sound. I've got 'em w/ dynamat door panels (a must for mid-bass). Won't find a better deal believe me:
