How do you bypass the feature that dvd players have that only allow you to watch dvds while in park?

It depends where they put the lockout on your system. Most of the time, they install a switch on the parking brake, so it must be engaged to function. if this is the case with your system, I'd start there, in the center console near the hand brake lever.

if it's in an auto car, sometimes it will only work when the tranny is in park, so check the gear selector as well.

Understandable why you want to do this, after all, you may want it so your passengers can be entertained, just be sure you keep your eyes on the road.

IT HAS TO DO WITH A GROUND CONNECTED NEAR THE SHIFTER (IF IT AN AUTO)
I HAVE A KENWOOD DVD AND I HAD BEST BUY FIX THE PARKING BRAKE PROBLEM FOR ME THEY WIRED I SWITCH IN MY GLOVE BOX SO I CAN TURN IT OFF IF I SEE A COP.
BEWARE, IF YOU DO THIS IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY

I just hooked mine up friday. Just ground the wire. DVDs will play anytime.

My car might be slow, but at least it looks nice!

then what's the point to have them if you can't play it while driving? i mean if you gonna go on vacation and you need to drive like 4-8hrs or some shit ur passenger will get bored. but i guess if you do it just keep ur eyes on the road.

its not the fact of NEEDING it, but its just the fact of having the ability to play dvd's while driving. i dont ever watch dvd while i drive, but its nice to have the ability to if i want to.

And i think it was answerd but i didn't read the post's. damn capitals. .

just hook up the wire that is supposed to connect to the ebrake to another 12v source. there is a black and white wire in a bunch on the top of ur console (when you take it out). tape into that wire and then ground it out. to make a loop. it tricks the unit into thinking that there is a 12v source 24/7.
