i just found this and was wandering if anyone else has seen this or if ths old or what, i searched for it on here and found nothing

It depends on what color your car is, but I wouldnt paint it.

Weight savings, a bunch

if i get a c/f hood or hatch, or any other pieces for weight savings... i'm painting them... no one else need to know what weight reduction i've done. Personally, i don't like the contrast between paint and c/f... if it were all c/f, great, otherwise i'm a paint guy.

While you might find it hard to believe, a lot of the "showy" cabon fiber pieces available now really aren't much lighter than stock. They are built to handle the rigors of being on a daily driven car (covered in clear coat, lots of layers of Carbon Fiber, some times steel that is wrapped in Carbon Fiber). They are far from the dry carbon body panels that are on the C-WEST S2000 and the HKS time attack Evo.

Keep in mind there are always exceptions.

the dry carbon pieces are the only ones i'll buy

i'll ask this guy i know there @ VIS (i think he's the CEO) how much the trunk costs and what grade quality. lol.. i dunno.. he's cool, but weird...

what's the price? how much weight will you save? how's the fitment?

lets not jump the gun...it might weigh the same as the stock piece and/or it might have fitment issues, just like their hoods.

I don't Trust VIS, don't return emails, can't get them on the phone. Someone prove me wrong.

how much does the stock hatch wiegh

I'm trying to get a second company to make a race only version that will be VERY light and come with lexan pre-installed. so far they havent made a decision. lol
