Disable Day Time Running Lights (DRL)

This is a really easy mod to do. All you have to do is remove your shift boot, and ashtray, etc. Get the the fuse box, and unplug the harness that is on the lower right side of this picture. Once you have it unplugged, you will want to cut wire #17. This wire is Yellowish with a green stripe. You will want to cut it about a inch or two away from the harness connector, so you can reattach it if you sell the car, etc. Once you cut the wire, tape both ends off with electrical tape, and put everything back together.

for some who want to do this mod, its not likely to happen but just in case. When you cut the #17 color yellow wire with green stripes, your led gas meter wont be working properly. but you wont need to worry, the led gas meter was simply reset. the next time you put gas in it, it would go back to the current gas you have.

I belive your dealer will do this for free if you ask. I think there is a TSB out for this.

the aouts come out the same way i found that it was easyest to start on the bottom driver side of the gear selector hole to start

and the wire ing harest shouldent have any chages in it until they change the entire car

Double check me if I'm wrong, but I think it's the 3rd wire down on the right side (may be the left) when it's plugged in. There are only 2 numbers on the thing, one number on either end. One side says "15" and the other "24." I counted 2 up from 15, cut the yellow wire with green stripe, and hooked it back together. My elbow hit the door lock button twice, which scared the crap outta' me because I thought I tapped a wire! Haha!

alright, how about if you want to get rid of the auto lights as well, you know when it gets dark, they turn on by themselves, or does this DRL thing account for that as well, please let me know!!

Other way around Isaac grin Gas Light is off, and the DRL's are still on... cut wrong wire maybe?

Wow, I didnt know this. My low beams hasnt been fixed yet and early in the morning the lights come in automatically. So I only have the fogs and parking lights turned on. I drive past the cops a lot of times because they are at the construction thing where I drive past and I guess they havent really notice it yet but I better be careful until I get the low beams fixed.

I need help? I did this and I had the same problem with some of you guys. When i cut the Yellow/ green wire I lose all my gas on the gas line but my lights still went on ??? P.S. I also went to Toyota and they told me that this mod cant be done. 1st thing i did was yell at them cause right there and then i knew they did not know what they was talking about. But i know this work cause i know some of you guys have already done it. Maybe i cut the wrong wire but there is only one yellow/green wire, right ? So if anyone can help me that be great. Thanks everyone.

Be careful... I cut the very bottom Yellowish wire with a green stripe and it was the wrong one. There are 2 (two) harnesses on the right. The very very bottom is NOT the correct one. It will disable your fuel gauge reading on your dash. At least it did on my 2000 Celica GTS.
