so I was on my way home driving through Lousiville Kentucky, where a deer jumps out in front of me while I am on the highway and i hit it (not ever seeing the thing) and the back end comes out and i ram right into the right railing, then i proceed to spin around about 3 or 4 times airbags being deployed, and end up just getting out and thining what the hell happenned...i didnt even know a deer was involved, I thought perhaps I had fallen asleep ( i was on a drive home from detroit, it was 4am) and i turned too much or somthing..but no, a deer jumped in front of me and caused my back end to come loose and pow into the rail
so my celica is gone, deer is destroyed...sad story really
oh well, life moves on
I am in france now anyway, so ah well
here are the attached pictures, pretty graphic...notice the leg of the deer next to the headlight more than 20 feet from where the body of the deer lays and where I hit the rail...

Actually, it did.

Hitting anything at 55mph is a deadly collision, he's lucky to have walked away. The Celica did exactly what it was designed to do, absorb the impact, save the occupant.

I still have my mr2 so I may just sit back for a while and see if any good deals on stuff comes up
I did really like the celica although its FF, i am kind of wanting a 240sx just due to its FR setup, but we will see
Really I'm in no rush since i don't get back to france until August or so.

Insurance going to replace the car? I'm just waiting for my time around here. I'm always out driving here in the woods of Tidewater, VA. My bro was driving his Mustang at about 80 coming home from Richmond late at night and a deer jumped out in front of him. He couldn't go anywhere because he was boxed in with traffic. Fortunately the deer got out of the way just in time. When will my turn arise?!?!

I've always heard that if your gonna hit a deer and can't avoid it, to speed up. Yes that's right, speed up. Something about during acceleration the cars nose lifts a little bit and increases the chances that the deer could go under the car. Instead of locking up your brakes, which causes the nose of the car to go down and increase the chance of the deer going through the windshield.

Might not work in our cars because they are lower to the ground than most others, but I've often wondered if that is true. The physics seem to make sense, but I'm not sure.

That makes sense, and I've heard it too. But I think our car is outside of that logic. Plus, unless it's a baby deer or if you're driving a tank of an SUV, speeding up at highway speed won't really help much. I would say, don't speed up and don't slow down. Just keep going forward at current pace. Because you don't want to be on the brakes or at a higher speed if you hit it and spin out.
