I have a 1990 Celica ST, and an old key partially broke off inside the key cylinder of the ignition. Is there any way of trying to get it out or will I have to buy another ignition for the car? Will one of those fix it car books help? I'm somewhat desperate because this car is my only mode of transportation atm. rasp
Unfortunately I didn't realize it and was using a different key to start it...which pushed the broken one down further and out of place. I'm guessing that I will have to take the cylinder out now to get the key out.
Lock Smith just came by. Told me I will have to have it drilled and the old key pulled out. $250-300 He suggested for me to drill it out or put a big screw driver in the ignition and break it. But if I get pulled over and the cops see it I will be arrested for auto theft.
I was told that I could possible take out the whole ignition and take it apart, but I will have to buy one of those books to do it.
