My factory CD player quit working yesterday. Whenever I put a CD in it flashes the word "Loading" like 12 times and then just spits the CD out. It does this with cd-r's and real cds too. Has anyone else had this happen?

This is from general experiance, try cleaning the laser with a cleaning CD. I have one that has tiny brushes that clean the lense. They go for about 10-15 dollars. This might fix your problem or it could be a waste of money, but its about the only maintenance available without taking the unit into the shop. Good Luck!! KenC

Getting the stereo to diagnostic mode could give you a clue too thumbsup hit the cd button 3 times while holding presets 1 and 6. The ignition should be to ACC. Here's some more info... https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/thread.f_1869941108_0_collapsed_2__1.html

Thanks for the hot tips, I'll try that stuff out this weekend. My car only has 6k on it, so it's pretty crazy that the unit is going ape already...

my head unit went bad in the first year, maybe we just played it too loud!!!...(2000 gt) however just earlyer this year i put in an aftermarket stero... and 10 changer, works a lot better then stock... plus its lighter, however it takes up less space, so you have to find a din cover or something else to put in the gap...

LoL, ah gotta love the stock stereos. It is actually really common for Toyota's factory CD players to skip or mess up, see it all the time at the dealership. But seriously if you only have 6k on it and it is a 2003 can we say factory 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty?

It should be covered, why try to fix it when you can get a new one?

d00d...my stock cd player is the shitz...

sometimes it doesnt work at all, saying "ERROR", also it heats up my cds whether its a CD-R or an original.

whats really weird is that it usually freezes when i play rap/hip hop cds. it rarely freezes on my rock/punk rock cds. hmmm... rolleyes

but, i dont care for the stock player anymore, i gots myself an Eclipse deck. i plan on having some fun and destroy the stock radio and send it back to either my dealer or toyota (i dont think sending it to toyota will be possible), or leave it in someones mailbox <-i like the last one.

03_TRD_GT do the same as me, get an aftermarket cd player and destroy the stock one (this is if you cant fix the problem with your stock one)

Your stock unit was made by Eclipse wink

The CD Player is under warranty. Take it in and get it fixed or swapped out for a new one.

Yeah, since it is under warranty just bring it there, they will take care of you.

That happened to me when the Celica was at 30K miles. The shop took care of it, no questions asked.

Or maybe the bass is causing it to freeze.
