i know i've been looking at the evo8. but i wanted a car that is little more complete. when i took the rx-8 to test drive. It felt like expensive and well made car. unlike evo, where its fast, but it drives like lancer. and its only 25,000 with tax and everything what you guys think? and pro and con?

RX8 is slower than a GTS unless you run the engine at 9000 rpm all the time. Rotary =

I am not a fan of the rotary engine. Mostly because its hard to find a mechanic to work on it around here.

yeah i never really liked the rx-8, but i just went to dealer to just take a peek at it. and when i test drove it. man everything feels so much better than celica. and more room. and 25,000, is not a bad deal. there is a guy from rx-8 forum that ran 14.3 in quarter, that's faster than celica. but not as fast as 350z or evo8, i like it because it feels and drives better than 350z or evo8 and they actually took their time to make this car.

yeah i understand that evo8 and 350z are way faster. but if you drive on evo, its same parts as lancer just different engine(very cheap looking interior), and its kinda ugly. but i admit i love the engine. 350z are fast lot of torque, but its two seater. And there are as much 350z as celica nowdays, and very uncomfortable driving. rx-8 however, its not fast, but its fast enough for me, engine is very quiet, the car feels more luxury, and looks a lot better than any of its competitor. the new renesis engine got engine of the year, and this engine is actually more stable and reliable than older rx-7 engines and its more reliable than piston engine. The car comes with great looking interior, and a lot of room. and handle like its on rail. tests prove that rx-8 with jic magic suspension beat the hotchkis celica gts time 1.5 mile in slalom. celica was number one in handling. I know it sounds stupid, but when you drive this car, it feels like you are flooding in the air. very comfortable drive experience.

No one here has mentioned that the rotary will eat up gas yet. sure the engine may be a 1.8 but you have to multiply that by 3 (sides of the rotor) to get the actual displacment of 4.2. Also they horsepower doesn't kick in until 8200 rpm (same as 00-03 S2k). I say get the Evo8 instead. BTW is 25K for 6-speed or automatic.

A rotary engine is definitely more reliable than a piston engine. Using a rotating motion to make rotating power opposed to using an up and down motion to make rotating power is definitely the way shit should be . There's also less moving parts in a rotary engine, which means less parts to replace. But you're right, they're real big gas guzzlers . http://auto.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm
