When deccelerating and still in gear, is it normal for it to whistle? It sounds like what I imagine a winding-down supercharger might sound like (though I have never actually heard one, so who knows tongue )

Anyway, it's usually in 3rd gear, and to a lesser extent in 2nd gear. It goes away as soon as I hit the clutch or give it gas. Is this just a normal thing? (I'm fairly new to owning a stick! wink )

Thanks!

Not sure exactly what speed it starts.. Seems to get louder (or maybe I can just hear it more clearly) the lower the speed gets.

Almost sounds like the fire siren in my town tongue

I had the same problem in my mustang. It ended up being from my head unit. And it would only make the wistling sound when the AC was one. Now, with my celica, I sometimes still get the whistling noise. It still ends up being only when the head unit is on as well as the AC...

NO, I think the whisling sound is different than the grinding noice. Or maybe it could be related. But I have that whistling sound too. very annoying.

if you have an after market stereo and amps it may be that. we used to have it on the camry when we installed a 12 inch box with amp and new head unit.. just tightened and found a better ground and issue was fixed.
