well, is it somehow protected or how easy is this thing to change?
basically, if you put a new cluster, it would show low miles and you can get warranty service from the dealer and sell the car as low miles... is that how it is??

not to mention odometer fraud is highly illegal.

the only way to do it is to have yoru car documented wiht before and after gauge cluster miles

they will know that a car that had say 20k in 03 and has 20k in 2010 is a frauded meter
they can check other things on the car to get a idea how many miles it has

Odometers are stored in gauge cluster only...

If the warrenty that matters.. dealershiping always keeps a record of your miles.. everytime you get serviced... so you know that that means..

Also for most states, if you get your smog check(any similar checking for registration) they keep tracking of the odometer(in my state Nevada)and sends the information to the DMV database over the modem at the end of the smog check... rofl

So if you aren't dumb you'll understand what other things you can do...
Too bad for people who has been owning Celica for long time...

damn... but thats such a good idea... i wonder if its the same in all toyotas.. i have a 2001 rav4 back home and i want to sell it.. but now im thinking of changing the cluster there and selling it as low miles..

no1 back home would be able to check the miles since not many parties keep records...

Nothing like openingly conspiring to commit a felony via the internet. rofl
