Ok, so I just bought one of those new Cobra radar detectors from Best Buy the other day for like $80. Anyway, although I wasn't expecting much, I decided to test it out. X band pick-up is a bit low, I'd say about 50-60 yards away before I picked it up. Then we went hunting around for a cop to see if he'd sit somewhere. We snagged one just leaving Hardee's and asked him if he'd sit somewhere in town with his radar on. Surprisingly enough, he wasn't an ass about it and went and sat. Picked up his K band at 140-150 yards. This was while he was obstructed. If he had actually been driving on the road, I believe it would have been greater. Ka I haven't had a chance to test out yet, same with laser. So far, it works well for under $100.
Heh, yeah, he was pulling out and as I pulled in I flashed my highs at'em and told him I had just bought it and wanted to test it out. I was lucky I didn't get an asshole otherwise he probably would've just told me to fuck off, but there are 2 or 3 cool cops in Hartsville.
i think detectors are legal in all states. the ones that are illegal are the ones that jam the cops reader, the ones that they cant read ur speed beccause ur radar blocks it or does something like that
I know in Virginia RD's are illegal. Most cops in my area are fairly cool about stuff like that. Most of them speed when they are off duty. If you run into a rookie all bets are off...
I need one of those with how much I drive...actually I really want one of those radar jammer things...its just trying to figure out how to mount it so that if I do get yanked they won't see it in my car when they come to my window...if I could figure that out I'd pay the money for one no problem...but it would be the absolute last thing I bought for the celi
