I guess this isn't really a modification or anything, but I figure I would post here since most people looking here are "mechanics" to some degree.
WTF is the problem when sometimes the car starts up and there's this irritating high pitched squeaking/whirring coming from under the hood??? It's starting to piss the hell outta me. I remember it being documented in one of edmunds.com's reviews, but I can't find it anymore. ECelica???

Yeah, most likely the noise is coming from your belt due to an old belt, or a busted tensioner.

I get it sometimes when it's damp outside. Sounds like a cheap ass old car. Buy a goodyear gatorback belt and be done with it

It's your belt I had the same prpblem a few months ago. If your car is still under warrenty the dealer will replaceit for you.
I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

If the problem persists with a new belt, then your tensioner is to blame.
The previous owner of my car had it replaced three times by Toyota under warranty because they were faulty (at least for the 2000 models.)
Havn't had a problem with it yet, but who knows.

Its embarassing when you roll up next to another tuner because they think you have shitted all over your engine. I haven't heard it for awhile, but it still happens every so often.
