just buy a gts UM... no... i already have too much work into this car, it's gonna be able to handle more boost than a gts without rebuilding internals, and... the GT badge on the back gives it some sleeper points

Personally I would take the US 6spd. Better ratios and probably easier to get.

If I'm not mistaking here in Holland the GT and GTS both have 6speed gearbox.. only the 2000 and maybe 2001 GT's had 5 speed if I'm correct.. the new ones 2003 and 2004 have 6 speed

the ratios are different for the euro spec gt 6spd on the gt and the gts the gt 6 spd has wider spaced gears for the broader torque curve of the 1zz and the eruo spec 6 speed has a shorter 6th so you can cruis on the autobahn at 220kph in 6th and yes the euro gt 6speed will fit, talk to david draper@claremont toyota, i heard he can get them for you

why not stick to your 5 speed tranny, since your running boost you need longer gears. having a 6 speed would not be best for a Turbo car since you will have to shift by the time you hit full boost, there for losing some boost in the next gear.

Hmm... is the GTS motor that much different from the GT?
Anyone here ever try to do a tranny swap?
I thought it'd be like Honda where almost everything is interchangable. Rofl.

Good to know. I'm trying to turn my car into a true beast... by the time i'm done (in a couple of years) it will be pushing around 18psi of boost (with all the proper internals), i'd like to have the european 6 speed... no one will expect the kind of trouncing that my car will be able to give them... especially since it will still be wearing a GT badge I'm gonna have to price out the tranny swap... it may well be my next major goal before i install my Turbo

for me to switch my auto to a gt 5 speed (not the GTS engine and tranny), I was looking at 5 grand. And thats the best out of 4 shops. The other three said they wouldnt even take the job!

rickclark (might be on NC.*rg) has put a 2zz in his GT with the 5spd transmission. If the 5spd bolts up ot the 2zz you would think the 6sp would bolt up to the 1zz. Also the part #for the axles are the same. If you stay NA thats the way to go.
