Maybe bit odd question but I read somewhere the Celica has the same engine as the MR-S (Mr2).. well wich engine does it have the GT or the GTS engine ? just wanted to check smile

I'm pretty sure that the MR-S has a GT engine.

But people use the terms interchangably sometimes.

MR2= Mid-Range 2 seater

MR-S= Mid-Range Spyder


At least that's what people refer to them as most of the time.

USDM does have the MR2spyder making it the MR-S

MR2= MID engine REAR wheeldrive 2 seater

the MRS is just shorter to say then MR2 spyder

yup...the spyder uses the "izzy" (1zz engine). people who have swapped the 1zz engine with the 2zz engine have been known to spank 350Zs and alike at the track... eek thumbsup

Norway is right. The MR-S is better than the MR2 Spyder of the USA Performance wise. Even though they are both MR2's, it's like calling a Celica GT a GTS.

So a Celi GTS beats a 350 Z ? since the Celi has the 2zz engine.. why I wanted to know is because Topsecret has a MR-S.. wich is tuned to the max ofcours.. I couldn't find any info on how much HP it has tough.. but wouldn't a Celi GT be able to have the same power as that one ? just wanted to know..

UMM...NO! lol. a GTS is 2600lbs and is fwd...an mr2 is 2200lbs and is RWD...there is the difference. thumbsup

Well ok the weight is a difference but I don't see why RWD would make you faster over FWD..
