Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior Gauge Needle

I know there must be another thread bout this but how do i change the color of the needle in my gauge, and will i need to re-calibrate? or will anything happen if i take it out? if something will. What will happen and how can i fix it?

I used the two-spoon method to get them off... (one on each side of the center piece and slowly work the needle out) Then use nail polish remover to get the stock orange paint off the back of the needles and repaint whatever color you want - I used white - but make sure you only paint the back of the needles

when you reinstall them, turn your engine to ACC and pop your needles in, making sure they rest against the stoppers - zero position. Then drive around and see if they're calibrated correctly. It might take a few tries to get them set properly again. Good luck -

I had probs doing that to mine when I changed the orange LEDS to blue. The RPM's check out ok but my spedo is 6-7 mph's over what I'm really doing. I have learned to live with it. If I were you I would leave it. I have a 2000 GT by the way dont know if that helps...

Im so afraid of this happening but i really want to change 'em. do you think it might be possible to do it without removing the needles, like using a really fine tip paint brush or something?

put paper under the needles so you dont paint the gauges and you shouldnt have a problem... well it would be a pain in the ass tho

I just left mine clear cause I didn't want to take them off.

You can swab under them with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

wait, how do i make it clear, dont you have to remove all of the parts?

^^yeah. thanks for that slidr i was thinking of doing that. then i guess you can paint under it with a fine brush. one guy i know used blue nail polish. that should work fine and the brush is thin.
