How many miles can you expect to get out of 215/40/18 tires? I ride on Yokohama Paradas for daily driving and occasional street racing (I don't take it to the track though).
Someone told me probably 15,000 miles, which is about a year, give or take a couple months. That seems a little too short.
I would expect that to be correct. Tire ratings can be deceiving though. Other than that, you drive like grandma to the store and back like you should with 18's and 15,000 or more miles wouldn't be a problem. Drive like Johnny Race Car Driver taking turns at un-Godly speeds and peeling out, slipping the clutch at every stop. Picture 10,000 miles. Those LOOK like the same tires I have. I would love a comparison test on tires. Someone needs to dig up info in mags or personal experience and make it a sticky. Like the exhaust shoot out or the Injen or AEM CAI, which is better.
does BETTER GRIP means HIGHER Performance means LESS DURIBLE ?
High Performance means different tread, which translates into better contact with the road, and in certain conditions.
Some high Performance tires last quite a while (Bridgestone Potenzas), while some last only a short while (Yokohamas).
Yokos are made with a lot softer rubber compared to Potenzas, which means that in most instances, they will grip better, but they will also wear faster.
My Potenzas lasted me for over 40k miles, and they were Ultra High Performance Summer Tires, and I'm not expecting my Yoks to last half as long.
Lesson learned.
