At what point does a car become not street legal. Like Supras that have been tricked out beyond belief. I mean they look normal enough so is there a HP limit for street cars or something like that?
i dont know you cant tell a car's hp by looking at it, you can see that its bad ass or tricked out but a cop cant just be like oh that car has 600 hp he's illegal. it must be up to emissions and stuff when you get your car inspected.. thats my guess.

So i could have a 900 hp supra and still drive it on the street? It justs seems something is wrong with that picture.
why should HP make a difference? there are 800hp semis out there, i realize that is a different context, but as long as you are driving the speed limit, HP shouldn't make a difference i don't think
Basically just look at super exotics.. they're fine for the street so long they abide by.." emissions usually, noise levels, and lights (blinkers, etc)"
LNK "you only need something when you know it exists..then it becomes a want"
lets see... if its in a safe driving condition, seat belts, lights, (air bags) and all the safety equipment and lisince plates, its street legal... when you buy a supra (say stock) at what ever hp they have... you tell ur insurance company just that... you dont tell them that your going to mod it out the wa-zoo... and race it down main street at 2 am...
cars go from transportation to hobbies that are extreme... and the insurance follows the orginaial (sometimes) then when you fuck up... ur fucked out of a lot of cash and a lot of time...
yeah, its legal, as long as it pases the smog tests, and doesn't have hazardous equipment (loud exhaust, drag tires,, body is intact etc..)...and all the lights are either white or amber, and the brakes are RED only...
You can do whatever you want to the engine of you car and it'll be street legal... the only thing regulated is emissions and safety (lights, seatbelts, ect).
Look at the dune-buggies you see driving around legally. You just have to follow the laws on the books... and thats not very hard to do.

I rememeber reading that if you car has been modifyed to perform the 1/4 in under 12sec you need a roll cage and if it's under 11 or 10 you need a 5 point harnes.
I'm not sure about the times but, it's something like that. But cops would never be able to know that.
I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

That's only to run legally at a 1/4 track.

Yeah... they're apparently pretty strict about it too. If you run 11.9 at a track in a car without a cage, they'll boot you right out. Happened in some article they had in Sport Compact this month.

as long as you pass emissions, noise level, and not have ur bumper hanging by a bolt ur legal...at least until you start speeding and doing other illegal things
