I actually drove around without any exhaust for a couple of days (pretty myuch the same as kazuma), and got complained at by a couple of cops...the cops here got nasty all of the sudden because Georgia has the highest interstate speeds in the entire country...so anyone with anything they can write a ticket for is getting ticketed...I've fitted and drove with the invidia, and the magnaflow systems, and loved both, but ended up with the invidia because its a hair louder (both are equally deep tho...)
I wish cops around here weren't so ridiculous... I'd get something that sounded nice. If I actually get PULLED OVER for no front plate, while I'm driving under speed limit... I think an exhaust would attract way too much attention.
I'm just a crosshair I'm just a shot away from you

hey that happened to me but then i got an exhaust to piss them off...and for my benefit too
The problem is... it'll be a MAJOR pain still. If a cop thinks it's too loud, he can pull you over and ticket you. Then you have to take it to a place to have it certified as under the legal sound limit. In the end you'll come out ahead... but I don't want to deal with all of that.

pshh..a cop pulled me over for my TRD..i said it's 50 state legal, he said "errr as long as you modified it, federal law says it's illegal"...kaduy mai wia-oops..anyway i woulda been screwed, but he said there's some shooting across town n he's wanted on the scene..i didn't even bother to change it...ya think he just wanted to scare me? trd isn't even that loud, he noticed it because we were in a quiet neighborhood at 1 AM..and i showed him my certificate, and that was the only time i ever got pulled over. freakin cops.

He's an idiot. It's 50 state legal. You would have had to go through the crap I talked about... but you would have easily had it dismissed.

Any exhaust without resonator is loud... that's including TRD which is one of the quietest...
My veilside with straight pipe(high flow cat) and no resonator... Is pretty loude after 4k.. and pretty deep below 4k... So at idle.. it's very tame...
hm.. guam we dont really need to worry about exhaust db levels. haha guam is pretty funny though you see people driving in cars that sound pretty fast but shit they slow as hell!!!
kazuma is loud! if you bolt your exhaust off the kazuma would still be louder. best shot if you want loud but nice sounding loud, get one of those axle back that comes with muffler(center) and a canister rear and do one of two things remove the muffler along with the original toyota silencer or the silencer and the canister and put a normal tip where the canister was(rear) the welds have to be real good or its going to cause buzz .take in mind that the higher up(closer to the manifold) that you do anything to the exhaust the more effect it will have on the exhaust Performance and sound.
HYBRID:resulting from the combination of two or more mechanically dissimilar origins! "...... code":every man is a shadow, let him be treated as such, until proven otherwise by a show of character or code!
Loudest exhaust would be custom straight pipe with Tsudo muffler terminating in the middle of the car, right behind the cat. I'm not kidding, I drove around in vegas for two weeks before I left and the cops didn't care. I miss vegas. Forget Kazuma, it sounded like Godzilla had come to town. I also miss the "holy shit!" looks I got from people who heard my exhaust.
Here's a serious recommendation, celicatalbot...try an exhaust control valve by Arospeed to quiet down your Kazuma. Put it in front of the cat and the 1st o2 sensor. That way you have a quieter exhaust and some backpressure on the street, and then you can have the high flow top end hp when you race. All you need to do is flip a switch and you can go from fully open to fully closed or anywhere in between. Arospeed doesn't have a bolt on for the celica, but I just bought one and had someone weld it in. I mounted my switch to the right of my head unit on my center console. www.arospeed.com [arospeed.com] ECV for $100 which is cheaper than buying a new exhaust and selling the kazuma. it's basically a throttle body with a line and a switch, but it works.
i wish the kazuma werent sooooooo loud. it sounds soo awsome in person but it is really loud! no sound clips online can do it justice. as me and caleb can atest to. guy at the last car show i went to revved his kazuma up for us and all i can say is but i think that as far as i have heard, TSRM is the way to go if cops are a prob in ur area.
Ikin, just because an exhaust system is put on after a CAT doesn't make it legal. It might have too much flow producing too many emissions at low cruising rpm. And it might be too loud according to law if it doesn't meet the 95 dB limit.
have you felt the civics stock exhaust flow? its a damn waterfall...i think its method of cleaning up the emmisions before releasing it into the atmosphere is what makes an exhaust legal or not..(not how much flow is going into the air)...as well as the 90 some decibel limit...states have variations on how loud it can be...92-96 in most states... i may be wrong, but im entitled to my own opinion.
