Hmmm, Just put my AEM CAI on saturday and I love it, Sounds cool and performance increase is noticable. However now come Monday it is persisting down and I am scared about the water on my air filter?!?

Just from driving down the road and back the filter is damp. What is bad for it?!?! What is bad for my engine and how much water is to much.

What do I need to do to ensure that there will be no damage to everything and my performance is not affected.

Can someone please help me.

Cheers -

You need to calm down. That little moisture that accumlates on the filter is due to the high humidity in New Zealand. Don't worry about it! Just don't go driving through New Zealand lakes or anything.

As Steven said, it's nothing to worry about really. The only way your engine is going to experience hydrolock is if your intake is submerged in water. If you're worried about splashing at all, they do have splash guards.

Sweet guys, thanks for your help.

So a this rain is not going to damage anything!?!

Hey when I installed the CAI I didn't have the connection, VSV for CCV, it just didn't exist in my car!?! Therefore the 10" long pipe that runs from the nipple on the Intake pipe had nowhere to plug into? Have you heard of this and what does it mean?

water really isnt an issue unless you're driving through puddles, but AEM makes a cold air intake bypass valve that functions basically like a short ram intake if the cold air filter is submerged in water. i'm not sure tho if their valve fits on all CAI's or just their own.

you only have to worry about submerging the filter end of the intake in water. like the tip of a straw in a glass, to suck enough water into the engine to cause damage.
