Today I was making an attempt at changing my fuel filter (6th Generation Celica). After a while, I got frustrated because it's in a horrible spot and I couldn't loosen the bottom hex nut. Anyway, I put the hex bolt that goes on the top of the filter back in with the tube in the correct position (with the washer in place). I tightened it alot, and everything seems correct, but when I start the car fuel sprays out from the top! I can't figure out what's going on, please help!
Note: The bracket that holds the fuel filter had a screw that went there, but it slipped out of my hands and I can't find it now, so I just used a wrench to hold it tight while I tightened the bolt on top (until I get a replacement screw), then I removed it when I'm done. This shouldn't affect anything, but I felt that I might as well mention it.
