Well this would be the third engine in my 00 celica 1st my fault $6500 2nd toyotas $free 3rd still in car and knocking. I took it to toyota the guy started it and turned it off then said you need a new engine $5000 less then 30 seconds im like WTF its only a year old sinth oil, premium gas always + theres no power loss he said i drive it 2 hard im like ITS A SPORTS CAR!!!!!! angry and i was doin 60 when it happend. anyway i let someone else hear it and he said it sounds like a rod $4000. so should i take it to toyota blow it up in the lot, put another CRAPPY gts engine in it, or can i get it rebuilt better. oh by the way just dumped 5g on body 2,500 on stereo a week ago im broke (no warranty ended 2 months ago)

Sorry to hear about your engine. I'm on my 2nd engine. But only because Toyota forgot to put oil in the damn thing after I paid for an oil change. They bought me a new one for free grin

Anyways, here's some thoughts:
Half of your problem is putting Synth oil in right from the get go. You have to run your car on regular oil for about 30K miles to let the valves, pistons, etc seat properly. Synth oil protects too well to allow proper wear-in on the engine (a certian amount of wear is good). Plus, did you break the engine in at all or did you just jump in and pound it? It takes about 1500 miles of easy driving and 2 oil changes to break the engine in properly. When you say premium gas, are you talking 101 octane or 91 octane or what? Check your owners manual, it's designed to run off of a certian octane only. Just food for thought for the next engine you put in it.

yeah bro...just cause its a sports car doesn't mean you can get in and kill it...you have to break it in properly with nomal oil, and "break in driving"...

I asked my dealer about breaking in the engine, and all he just said was don't stay in the same rpm all the time and don't over-rev it. What are you doing to the engine? My experiance with Toyota's are that if they break, there is a good reason for it. After 3 engines, I am inclined to believe there is more to this story than you are telling us...

"sell out with oh ya, sell out with me tonight" its not worth all that money... just take the body off compleatly and sell that some some kid and part out the rest of the car... (u aint gonna make scrach with a knocking engine) just part it all out, and buy something else

that's what i'm thinking as well, its a "sporty" car, but i wouldn't consider it a "sports car"...when i hear sports car i'm more inclined to think corvette, nsx, porsche(carreras, not boxter)...somewhere along thoughs lines
