that pioneer model you mentioned is pretty good - please don't get a Sony head unit... If you really want quality look at Eclipse

The Pioneer is a great choice for sound quality. Sony is total crap for anything except their display. I highly suggest the Panasonic 8400 series too.

I have had Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer and Blaupunct and Kenwoods seem to have the higher quality. Usually you get what you pay for. Its like cars where money = speed except its money = sound quality. If you know what you are doing you can save a lot of money using Ebay. Here are a few things to consider. Electronics are evolutionary rather than revolutionary. There just is not that much difference or improvement of sound from this years models and last years models. You can get last years model for about half of what this years model will cost. Use a reputable dealer rather than a individual. Listen to the product at a retail store. Do not buy without knowing what the stuff sounds like. Paypal works well for paying for stuff over the internet. My last installed system cost me approximately 1500 dollars over Ebay. Retail from the store it would of been at least 3000. No one even cares that the electronics were last years model. Good Luck

trust me, I'm a BIG Sony fan when it somes to home video products (the new plasma screens are sweet), but they just don't cut it in the car audio department...

I bought a Sony X-plod amp and it was worst sounding amp I have ever heard. I am sure there are worse amps, but I expected more from Sony!
