i was told by a friend that any one can put a used Turbo from any car on to a celi. that all you are really buying is the name. that if you get a Turbo frm any other car all you have to do is get someone to do all the pipeing. is this true????

there's a little more to it than that... but, yes, you could put a used Turbo onto a celica if you have someone who can do the piping... and then the tuning

A lot.

If you want to DIY, you have to get the right sized Turbo with the right trim and A/R ratio. You also have to spec the correct sized intercooler and all of the silicone couplers and elbows, along with fabricate a new oil system for the Turbo. You'll have to get those pipes made somewhere, most people don't have a mandrel or even a crush bender in their garage. Don't forget about the vacuum lines or the new exhaust manifold that you're going to have to fab up. You also need to get the correct wastegate and mount it in a safe place, and finally, you'll need to get a few thousand dollars worth of electronics to manage and tune everything in blissful harmony. Last but not least you have to check to see if there's any shaft play or problems with the nice used Turbo that you scrounged. eBay is not your friend in this regard.

If you don't understand what I just said, this is absolutely not the project for you. A Turbo system is complex and expensive, it's not a weekend fling to be attempted by a noob who doesn't know what he's doing. smile

XS makes one and so does blitz. But i hear the XS is not as reliable as the blitz. I plan on buying blitz in the future.

Blitz makes a supercharger kit for the GTS. Not a Turbo.
