Alright just 5 mins ago I took something into my own hands..
my sig surely does not suit me here... cry

I just came home from my night class, stopped by the church to pray for qbanprepster21's baby...(link) then on the way home

1. i'm crusing at the posted 25mph speed limit two lane road when the infiniti behind me decides i'm to slow so tries to overtake me on the opposite coming traffic lane..

2. So then the bad decision.. I floor it so he can't get ahead of me.. so eventually he sank back behind me..

3. luckily there was no cars on the opposite lane.. but was I just in my actions... frown

I would have just pulled until he came alongside, given him a look and shaken my head, then floored it and got ahead of him. Next, the most crucial part, slow back down to the speed limit. This serves to prove your point and also makes the other driver very anger. Repeat this procedure until the guy gives up - assuming there is no traffic...

Honestly, after reading that thread about the deadly accident, you were not just in your actions. You should've just let him pass you and if he was gonna be stupid, then let him do it himself so that you dont have any responsibility for anything. But I probably would've done the same thing though tongue

like your idea grin ...but once was enough I suppose.. since I knew a corner was coming.. and my adrenalin rush had ceased and i got back to my senses.. Didn't want anyone to get hurt, just teach him a lesson..
but he stopped after that... i hope he doesn't do it again to anyone else..

well at least I don't feel as guilty.. but still its not good tongue

Awww... that's sweet that you feel remorse but I kinda feel you on that. Some people need to be taught a lesson. I mean you don't know who's gonna be behind the wheel of the car you cutoff. It could be some crazy ass person like Jack Nicholson who's gonna bash in your windshield with a golf club so you should be careful. You didn't really hurt him or anything. Just taught him a valuable life lesson to wait one fricking minute. Lol! World peace people!

What that guy did was dangerous (and stupid), but what you did made the situation even more dangerous. I would have just let the asshole pass...you can't teach stupid people a lesson.

And yes if the limit is 25mph, then just go that ... all you needed was a cop somewhere and then you would've really felt stupid. The lower the limit the nicer I drive.

I've done that before, and I have to say that I felt the same when I did it. There are too many crazy people out there, and I'd rather not have to test my martial arts skills wink

Do you actually need our opinion to make you feel better/worse about what you did??? Sheesh. If you feel uncomfortable with what you did, take your allowance away or something, it's pretty obvious most people will do something stupid most of the time if they're able to.

No worries man, I hate those folks also. They think they can drive super fast and whatnot just to stop on the same stop light as you. What you did was not wrong since you did not race anyone.

Think about it this way, you just sped up faster so that you can avoid him overtaking you and accidentally lose control and hit something or someone. So in another word, you did good. Hehe

That's nothing. Don't feel bad. You must have a strong conscience. I have done much worst many times to teach some ass a lesson. Just wait until something like that happens again and some guy brings out a blade, someone stops and gets out of their car and threatens your life, some guy gets out and not only threatens your life but tries to punch you through the open window, someone faster cuts in front of you and slams on their brakes to a complete stop on the highway so you hit them, countless honking and fingers, people that try to follow you home, people reaching for their cell phones to call who knows what to take care of your ass, or the people that will dog you and ride a millimeter off your bumper for miles with their high beams on. I either let those idiots just pass or play the game. Just make sure the other car isn't faster, you know how to drive, and you learn how to blow through red lights and stop signs if it gets ugly. Just joking on the last part. Don't hurt yourself or others. There are way too many anal angry mother F***ers on the roads these days. Don't belittle yourself to that level. It's always best to pull to the side and let them pass. You will feel much better next time, believe me.

I'm sorry to say... but I think you were wrong.

You have no right to impede traffic. Even if they are breaking the law by speeding, you have no right to slow them down. If you were on a road with two lanes in each direction, would you have started swerving to keep him from passing you at over the speed limit?

It was stupid of him... but for all you know he was trying to get his pregnant wife to the hospital.

good point rev... good point.. frown

it was two single lanes going in opposite directions.. but it was a straight away..

Quote
RevMonster ...If you were on a road with two lanes in each direction, would you have started swerving to keep him from passing you at over the speed limit?...
If the conditions were like that ^^ 2 lanes no..i wouldn't swerve to keep him from passing..

and for the record no it couldn't have been a pregnant wife because in the rear i saw him later turn into the 7-eleven and no the time to buy lottery tickets was already over..

but I've learned my lesson and will let people like that pass. I think after i finish college I might just be a street cop. It just always pisses me off when people do stuff like that, that this time I wanted to do something since the conditions seemed good tongue

but again good point rev... good point..

If you're dogging it and happy about it, don't be a dog in the manger (growling at the horse who wants to eat the hay). It's not up to you to enforce speed limits. Besides, you never know if your'e dealing with a psycho or not who might pull a gun. Or maybe even Tony Stewart who would T-Bone your car without a second thought.

OK so lemme get this straight. You were driving in a 25MPH zone and some dude was gonna pass you. He was gonna pass you the way anyone else would have passed your slow ass, by pulling into the oncoming lane and going around you and then pulling back into your lane in front of you. Sounds to me like that is how everybody goes about passing someone. You yourself said it was a straight road and no cars were coming so tell me how was this guy so wrong as to justify you speeding up and being an ass about it. Common courtesy, just let him pass you, its not illegal last time I checked (not the speeding part, the passing part).

So I'll say no you were not just in your actions because the dood obviously didn't need to be taught a lesson. Unless there was a double solid line but even then that is just precautionary, the only time you are not allowed to pass someone is when there is a sign saying "do not pass"

I think the minute they both decide to break the speed limit the double yellow meant nothing anyway...wreckless drving is a far worse offense they both commited. That said I have been on the recieving end of a person who decided to speed up to prevent me from passing in a legal passing zone. When out of the blue someone turned into traffic heading in the direction we were going. The idiot that sped up to prevent me from passing had to eat a ditch to avoid hitting me or the car in his lane...trust me it could have gone bad either way. Instead of teaching a lesson he could have wrecked himself and looked dumb as hell to the person passing him...when this happened to me I laughed my ass off even after I stopped to render aid as required by law. OH and by golly the idiot who wrecked his car in the ditch didn't even want us to call the cops...wonder why...look if someone wants to pass its better to let them do it even if it is illegal in that area. Its called defensive driving for a reason. Plus seeking justification is indication of guilt...they both knew they were wrong its was a matter of pride and stubborness. On the otherhand when I was younger I would have done the same but I quickly learned its more fun to see them at the next stop light and smile that their hard work was for the best effort of reaching that light 1st rofl

Look it up. Where I'm from a double yellow is just a recommended thing, the only time it is actually illegal to pass is when there is a sign saying "do not pass"
