Well first you gotta drop the pan and take a look and see whats causing the knock thumbsup Mine just went in cause I had a knock and it turned out to be a bearing, but if you've had the problem for a while then you may need to replace more than you think. ie. for a bearing, the bearing needs to be replaced, crank might need to be tru'd connecting rod may need to be replaced...ect. theres a lot that could be damaged if you've let the problem persist thumbsup

I think our definitions of knock may be different. I'm talking about the valve chatter I get from the engine. Not like an actual knocking sound. I was just wondering if replacing the valve springs and what not would help this?

the engine will produce a bit of valve clatter that is normal but if you think you have a prob go to the dealer you have a 5 year 60k powertrain warrantee standard

if you guys have have the gts,it depends on how loud the chatter is,there is nothing wrong with it.
i had the same concern about my motor and a friend of mine also,my tech man busted her open(my friend first though grin)
adjusted shims check everything, and put her back up, guess what it helped just a little bit. we conlcuded that thats how thw 2zzge is! since then we compared several other cars and they are basically the same,a little noisy.depends on the gas too.

Would octane booster improve this problem? Does it hurt anything? I'm about to juice it up with N20 and I didn't want anything to pop in there so I thought I'd ask about the chatter.

On another note, if it's that bad, then just align your timing chain. Might need a mechanic to do that cause it's a little advanced for the typical guy out there.

Check it out in the TSB section of this site.

I also know for sure that it's under the lift bolt replacement TSB. There's a page or two in there that tells you how to align the timing chain and all of that good stuff.

There's also a few TSB's that relate to valves and valve alignment. You might wanna check that out also.

listen dude, you need to tell us exactly what you are refering to when you say "knock"
there are detonations and pings. a detonation can be small or big
then you have what i call valve ringing, or valve chatter
then it has all sought of drive train noises, bearings, crank, pistons etc.

tell you what an easy way to tell tell if its detonation would be, it usually doesnt happen when the motor is cold or just started,it doesnt usually happen when there is no load(car has to be in gear driving under accelaration)not stand still free reving, unless its really bad.
it sounds like someone taking a couple of marbles and dropping them on the valve pan cover. the size of the marbles would determine how bad it its. so if it sounds like someone is droppping a few rocks on the valve pan cover its bad!
before you get the n2o fid out what it is. any good tech can spend 5 minutes with that car and tell you round or about whats up and mention to them that its hi comp.that has a lot to do with the sound(like a diesel)

That's what I'm talking about. Valve chatter. Not knock (sorry for the confusion). And I know it's supposed to be normal, but I don't like the engine sounding like a diesel/tractor. Should/can anything be done about it?
