ive been going through hell trying to get my hands on one, finally made it happen today. funny story tho, yesterday i had a 98 cbr picked out, paid for it and everything, but the carbs where just a little clogged, so the sales guy didnt want to send me home with it yet. He has a mechanic take it down the road to flush it out, bastard ends up wiping out into a gaurd rail, totals the bike, so they give me this 2000 for 500 bucks more. i get it home today, and my dad decides he needs to take it out, well, he takes it around the block, no probs. then he takes it back down the alley, tries turning around it the road, front tire goes throu gravel, and yep he drops it, broke the left mirror off. i could tell he felt bad tho so i didnt really say anything, he'll replace it.
and by the way i give massive props to anyone who owns one of these, this is actually my first bike and i can tell im going to be spending a lot of parking lot practicing time before i try going cruising, anyhow sorry so long heres pix
yeah, whenever it happened i asked what other bikes i had to choose from, it was either this or one of those imitation smokin joe's, ugly, at the time i was just really bummed out and thought this one had way to much yellow, but today when i went back up i thought it was awsome. has a big brother carbon fiber exhaust on it to, sounds nice
^^ Me, before I sold it. I started getting a little to crazy with it and had a bad xperience almost wiping out. Ride safe man, wear your helmet and keep th rubber side down...

For sure, be safe, I have been riding for 4 years now and had several close calls, but if you're like me, you are tired of people telling you to be carefull, it's annoying after a while. Not that it would have helped on gravel, but invest in some frame sliders...just in case. Congrats on the bike, they're a ton of fun. Fun to F*ck with ricers too, they actually will try to race you!!!!?????
YEs congrats man that is very very nice. I am in the same boat as you here, and I'm taking delivery of a silver and black R6 today! I am so excited, just got all my riding gear yesterday. Keep it safe tho like everyone says, I know you here it over and over but yeah you really gotta remember that.
You will love the cbr. I have an 01' F4i, and it is awesome. I can now ride a wheelie all the way through first gear, it is pretty badass, 22 mph up to 68 mph then droppin it back down, it is pretty fun.
sport bikes are for true speed addicts. nothing else on the street can compete.

naw man you'd be ok. you just have to set your mind to not doing anything stupid. its a machine and you have to respect it. I can honestly say i have a whole new respect for these things and all i've done is taken mine up and down our alley. i accept the fact that i have a whole lot to learn and dont plan on going cruising anytime soon. plus when you look back most accidents happen because of people doing stupid stuff. maybe it didnt seem that dumb at the time, but looking back it was. my friend bought a brand new one and the 2nd time he had it out he wrecked it cause he cracked the throttle going around a turn. i plan on being an old grandma when i take mine out, nice and slow.
