I'm sure people are tired of explaining this, but I am new to Celicas so I don't know the difference between the GT and GTS engines. I know the lift bolts and that is it. What else makes them different? Is it a totally different engine or is it just the lift bolts, different cams, and a higher rev limiter?
The GTS engine has variable lift and timing. The GT only has variable timing. The variable lift on the GTS engine does not take place untill 6300 RPM, redline is 7800 RPM rev limiter kicks in at 8400 RPM. What this means is that above 6300 RPM the GTS gets an extra 40 hp. The GT engine has a couple of pounds more torque in the low end, and unless you really windout your GT engine, then you probably don't want the GTS engine. The GTS also come with 4 wheel discs and more standard equipment. I am very glad I got the GTS instead of the GT, but it is kinda pricey.
