there's a loud ticking noise coming from my engine when i give it any throttle. i took it to toyota and they're telling me i need to give them oil change reciepts before they can open up the engine block. am i not allowed to change my own oil and remain under warranty? i dont have any reciepts... how much is it gonna cost me if it's not covered under warranty? i havent had any power loss, so i dont think the valve has broken off yet.
You are allowed to change your own oil without breaking the warranty as long as you can prove you did change the engine oil regularly. Do you keep the filter and oil receipt when you bought them from Autozone, Wal-mart, etc.?
